Why are we changing our website to Shopify?

Shopify is currently the most popular e-commerce platform and it’s a Canadian company, based in Canada!

We’ve made the switch to Shopify for a number of reasons which are geared towards making your shopping experience smoother and more enjoyable. The website’s look and feel is a lot cleaner, which means it’ll be much easier for you to navigate and find what you’re looking for.

 

What are some of the changes and benefits I can expect?

Some of the benefits that you’ll notice immediately include:

  • Sign in is fast and easy to use - only your email address and a password are required
  • Site runs smoothly on all desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices
  • Enhanced shopping cart: graphics will aid navigation to and in the checkout
  • Improved and quicker checkout process
  • Along with the usual flat shipping rate that starts at $9, there is an online Priority shipping option available in the checkout

 

How do I start shopping at thegirlguidestore.ca?

Like most online stores, the first step is to create an account. Simply click CREATE AN ACCOUNT and enter the required information to get started shopping.

Note: Starter Kits are a great option for first meetings!

 

What form of payment can I use?

The Online Store accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Debit/Visa, pre-paid Credit Cards, and the Ontario Council Purchase Cards. The other option is a PayPal account (see below for PayPal details) where you can link up bank accounts, debit cards, credit cards or you can set up a PayPal account to hold a balance.

How Do I Create a PayPal Account?

To get started, simply fill out the PayPal registration with your desired account type, country of residence, home address, and login information.

Can I save my order before I exit and continue at a later time?

Yes, your shopping cart is automatically saved in your Internet Browser. If you have your browser set to delete your cache, you will lose your shopping cart.

Should you make any changes to your shopping cart, in terms of quantities, please click the UPDATE button.

Note: There are no guarantees that all cart items will be available when you continue shopping.

 

What if an item is out of stock?

If an item is currently out of stock you will not be able to order or pay for it. This out of stock item is not considered a back order and we cannot automatically send you the item once it becomes available. We invite you to click on the out of stock item, sign up for email notification and once you receive the notification, place your whole order at that time to avoid additional shipping charges. Please note that every order placed will have a shipping charge & we are unable to guarantee that all other items will be in stock at the time that the out of stock item becomes available.

 

Can I add to my Order?

Once you have placed your order, we are unable to add to your finished order.

 

How long does it take for orders to be processed?

Orders are usually processed within 2 business days. During our busy time (start of Guiding Season-Fall), the processing time could be extended.

Transit times vary depending on the shipping address and the type of shipping option chosen in the Checkout.

 

Will overseas buyers be able to purchase items?

Overseas customers will be able to purchase merchandise from the online store.

 

Who can order badges, insignia, challenges and awards, records aids and certificates and ceremonial items?

Only GGC Adult Members can order badges, insignia, challenges, awards, records aids, certificates and ceremonial items from the online store. They are not available for purchase by potential members (individuals whose screening hasn’t been completed) or any non-member customers. 

To order the above items, your store account profile must use the same primary e mail address as the one listed in your iMIS profile. This primary e mail must be a unique e mail and not shared with anyone else in iMIS. To check your profile and/or change your primary e mail, go to My Profile in Member Zone and click the About Me tab.

GGC runs the Member list on a daily basis. A GGC Adult Member has to be on this list to be able to access the items listed above at the online store. Changes made to your iMIS profile may not take effect for up to 24 hours at the Online Store

 

 Why  do I need a unique e mail address to place an order?

As part of the move to the new platform, individuals must use a unique e mail address. The requirement of unique e mails is an industry standard for online shopping platforms and helps ensure a secure shopping experience. Any volunteers or staff with shared e mail addresses will need to ensure they have a unique e mail address when creating an online store account. To check your profile and change your primary e mail, go to My Profile in Member Zone and click the About Me tab.
